There is also one very well known cause for what is being described though that has nothing to do with a stressed game engine or the world being too large or trying to simulate too many sims at the same time. We do know that smaller households and smaller world resident populations tend to fare better than larger ones. I'm putting the "too much" part in quotes because the next reasonable question, so how much is too much, is impossible to answer.

The game can only get so much in the way of usable resources before things become overloaded. This is one place, among others, where the limitations of TS3 being a 32-bit only application come into focus. When the world simulator has "too much" to do, these are things that can go right out the window no matter how sims' preferences for what to do first/next are tuned and retuned. I would also have to add that unreasonably sluggish autonomy (and free will) can be a sign of an overly stressed game engine. Now, to be honest, I don't really understand many of the settings, so can anyone reading this post recommended settings to make the autonomy faster? Your help would be appreciated. I changed around some settings and noticed a little difference, but it really wasn't what I wanted it to be. Then, I found that Retuner has settings to change autonomy and idleness. But, unfortunately, I have found only two things: an autonomy "fixer" that doesn't really work and an autonomy mod for The Sims 4:(. I have looked online for a mod that overhauls the autonomy system, something that makes it REALLY fast to do things. This has become a regular occurance for my sims when instead it should be a rare one. Then, after, when they're smelly, they won't even take a shower. They can't even take care of their basic needs! When one sim show that he/she has to pee, they'll just stand there until they piss themselves. This is also an issue in my own house with my roomates. When I open a house with MC, the occupants just stand there for countless in-game hours, idle, before one sim starts moving. I'll just be honest here: the Sims 3 AI autonomy sucks.
